The University of Manchester - Directorate for the Student Experience

Location: Manchester
Salary: £30,487 to £34,980 per annum, depending on relevant experience
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

Providing an international experience for all our students is central to The University of Manchester’s Global Influence strategy.

The Placements and International Programmes Office (PIP) is responsible for the governance, business processes, promotion and management for all off-campus study and work (both UK and International) including student exchanges/study abroad, work placements and fieldwork.  PIP works closely with partners across the globe and also admits, welcomes and supports all our incoming study abroad/exchange students. This is an exciting time to join PIP as we seek to expand outward mobility, maximising opportunities from new internal investment as well as the Turing Scheme to contribute to the creation of a generation of global change makers.

The Placements and International Programmes Coordinator (Risk Safety and Student Support) will join a well-established and expanding team.  You will coordinate and develop the delivery of processes relating to placement safety, student support (including co-ordinating predeparture preparation and Welcome/Orientation) and emergency response. Key responsibilities include line management, developing risk assessment processes and supporting inbound and outbound study placement students with more complex support needs.
You should have demonstrable experience of offering student support across a wide range of concerns and issues, with excellent customer service skills and a commitment to the student experience. You will have strong organisational skills and attention to detail together with excellent communication skills (written and oral).  You should have experience of crisis and emergency management. Prior experience of international mobility work and/or of studying or working abroad is desirable.

Be part of the great adventure as we enable students to see the world differently and think globally.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
