The Dentistry degree programme at Queen's is Ranked 1st in the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, 2nd in the Guardian University Guide 2024 and 4th in the Complete University Guide 2024 out of the 16 Dental Schools in the UK.

In this part time, fixed term appointment (0.4 fte), you will strengthen the academic base in Paediatric Dentistry within the Centre for Dentistry, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. You will undertake significant teaching in Paediatric Dentistry at undergraduate level, engage in scholarly activity and contribute to the development and running of the Centre.

Appointment may be made at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level: Senior Lecturer builds on the responsibilities of a Lecturer and recognises substantial experience in academic Paediatric Dentistry.

About the person:

Application may be made at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level with the additional criteria for Senior Lecturer indicated. Please specify in your application which grade you wish to apply for, and set out in your application how you meet the relevant criteria, which includes the following requirements relating to education and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • BDS (or equivalent).
  • Current, full Registration with the GDC.
  • Membership or Masters in Paediatric Dentistry, or equivalent.
  • (Senior Lecturer) PhD or equivalent.
  • Experience and understanding of student learning needs and the ability to plan appropriate learning activities for undergraduate dental students in Paediatric Dentistry.
  • Experience in a range of teaching and assessment activities and examinations at University level.
  • An aptitude and enthusiasm for undergraduate dental education.
  • (Senior Lecturer) Substantial relevant teaching and assessment experience at university level, including clinical supervision of students in paediatric dentistry.
  • (Senior Lecturer) Evidence of contribution to the successful delivery, enhancement or review of particular modules.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in paediatric dentistry/community dentistry or equivalent.
  • (Senior Lecturer) A sustained record of high quality outputs and success in obtaining external funding funding.
  • Relevant academic administrative/management experience.
  • (Senior Lecturer) Evidence of contribution to a wide range of administrative tasks at a more strategic level.
  • Significant clinical experience in Paediatric Dentistry.
