Holiday Entitlement: 33 days annual leave plus 9 buildings closed days (and Christmas Eve when it falls on a weekday)

Purpose of Role

As part of our ongoing student recruitment objectives, we are looking for a Marketing Officer to engage with our undergraduate target audience, including the audience for our evolving pathways into undergraduate study. This is a great opportunity to come up with insight-led, highly creative integrated marketing campaigns and activity that will appeal to our target audiences and drive growth in our undergraduate student population. Reporting to the Brand and Campaigns Manager – Student Recruitment, this role is at the heart of building reputation, awareness and engagement with Heriot-Watt University among undergraduate prospects.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

Essential

  1. Educated to at least SCQF level 6-7 or equivalent practical experience in the workplace
  2. Proven experience in a marketing or communications role with a global focus/remit
  3. Managing and delivering campaigns and projects by working with a variety of senior stakeholders.
  4. Strong digital media skills, including experience with developing paid and organic social media campaigns and using email marketing tools (Salesforce Pardot)
  5. Experience of copywriting for print and digital; excellent writing and editing skills including the ability to produce clear, concise copy.
  6. Demonstrable ability to work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic, changing and pressured environment.
  7. Demonstrable professional and proactive approach

Desirable

  1. Experience of Higher Education sector or youth marketing
  2. Delivering multi-media marketing campaigns
  3. Competent in the use of relevant IT packages, and CRM specific packages such as Salesforce, MS Dynamics, Magento, Marketo etc.
  4. Working with in-house or external design and advertising agencies
  5. Experience of account-based marketing techniques
