Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to join the group of Dr Alexander Forse at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. This project will develop electrochemical systems for carbon dioxide capture.

Research in the Forse group centres round the development of new materials for climate change mitigation. Electrochemical carbon dioxide capture is an emerging strategy for capturing carbon dioxide at source, and offers an energy-efficient means to prevent carbon dioxide emissions. The overarching aim of this post-doctoral position is to advance the use of supercapacitors for electrochemical CO2 capture.

The project will involve electrode synthesis/fabrication, electrochemical gas adsorption experiments, data analysis and interpretation, and working with and mentoring PhD and Masters level students. The successful applicant will benefit from access to state-of-the-art gas adsorption instruments, potentiostats, and wet-lab space, as required for this project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing electrochemistry equipment in the Forse Group, and will coordinate fortnightly subgroup meetings on CO2 capture.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in a relevant branch of chemistry or chemical engineering, and must have expertise in electrochemistry as applied to batteries, supercapicitors and electrocatalysis. Experience of gas sorption experiments would be beneficial.
