The University of Plymouth is inviting applications for a permanent Senior Research Consultant position in the Coastal Marine Applied Research consultancy within the Coastal Processes Research Group (CPRG). We are looking for an experienced candidate with expertise in coastal processes and numerical modelling.

You will lead commercial projects and undertake innovative research supporting CMAR activities by delivering modelling of coastal hazards and hydro- and morpho-dynamic processes. You will lead on current projects and be active in bringing in new work to the team. With a strong background in numerical modelling (Delft 3D, XBeach, SWAN etc.) and consultancy experience you will help CMAR continue to grow.

You have a PhD in a coastal processes related field (Marine Science, Oceanography, Coastal Engineering or similar), and have published from your PhD resesarch. You have excellent numeracy skills required for analysing large data sets and demonstrable experience using hydro- and morpho-dynamic numerical models. Modelling experience with Delft3D or XBeach is highly desirable. Experience with coastal field data collection and/or machine learning is also desirable. You are someone who can manage personnel and has experience leading projects.

A current full driving licence (manual transmission) is essential as you will be driving University of Plymouth vehicles. This role is also subject to health surveillance with our Occupational Health team.

The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours a week.

Remote working may be available up to 2 days a week.
