Senior Language and Skills Tutor

The University of Salford has a new opportunity available for a Senior Language and Skills Tutor! This role is a chance to make a significant impact by empowering our students, especially those for whom English is not a first language. You’ll play an essential part in their academic success and career readiness by guiding them through assessments and more.

This is a fixed term position to cover maternity leave and the contract will last 11 months.

So what will the role involve?

• Supporting students in the school to develop academic skills related to their course: Essay writing; case study development; academic analysis and synthesis.
• Undertake group, one-to-one online and face to face (this role is based at the Salford Fredrick Road campus).
• Contribute to our thinking and be challenging on how Salford can transform the way it addresses equity disparities, embraces diversity and becomes more inclusive
• Foster the development of an inclusive community, using teaching approaches which encourage inclusivity, working in partnership with students to improve their sense of belonging, diversifying the curriculum and using approaches to inclusive assessment to close the award gap.
• To enhance the student experience at Salford in order to improve internationalisation, retention, academic success and graduate employability.
• To deliver high-quality support programmes for language and (where appropriate) study and employability skills to support the increasing internationalisation of the university.
