Contract: Open Ended

Location: Polaris House, Swindon. (Hybrid working available including a minimum of 1 day a week in a UKRI office). This role may require occasional overnight travel.

As Senior Policy Manager for the Infrastructure Fund you will have responsibility for some cross-cutting areas of infrastructure policy across the Infrastructure Fund and associated programmes, as well as leading on some aspects of its delivery

Responsibilities

  • Leading our mechanisms for providing strategic advice to UKRI on prioritising our investment portfolio, including managing the Infrastructure Advisory Committee (IAC), building relationships with its Chair and senior stakeholders and acting as first point of contact with IAC members
  • Providing analysis and insights on current activities within the portfolio  
  • Engaging and building relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, including working with colleagues in the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology
  • Providing policy briefings and reactive responses to urgent requests for information, for example, for ministerial visits and questions
  • Working across UKRI and leading our input into cross-cutting policy activities that underpin the programme, such as leading our input into UKRI’s environmental sustainability work

About you

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience (S)
  • Demonstrable interest in the role (S&I)
  • Experience of identifying key stakeholders, selecting appropriate engagement methods and building important relationships at a variety of levels (S&I)
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including experience of writing across different media such as briefings and websites (S&I)
  • Good team working skills, including collaborating with colleagues to prioritise tasks and maximise resources, managing upwards and sideways (S&I)
