We are seeking to appoint an experienced Associate Professor to lead the Birmingham MBA, a suite of leading international MBA programmes taught across our campus in Edgbaston and Dubai, and in Singapore with our partner institution Singapore Institute of Management. As the MBA director you will further develop our vision for purposeful leadership, enhance the student experience and maintain the high level of research-led, impactful teaching of our fully accredited programmes.

We are searching for an individual who will contribute to teaching within the Department of Management. We are open to candidates across our three academic pathways: education, research and education, and enterprise, engagement and impact. We expect evidence of achievements and experience commensurate with those pathways, which may be quality publications, excellent teaching, PhD supervision, and developing academic leadership skills among others. Key to this role will be your vision and experience in the area of executive and MBA-level education and we look forward to hearing about your plans for taking the Birmingham MBA to the next level.

Main Duties

Management/administration: MBA Director

The successful applicant will become the Director for the Birmingham MBA, the Birmingham Business School’s suite of MBA programmes: the full-time MBA (Edgbaston), the part-time Executive MBA (Edgbaston), the part-time Executive MBA (Singapore), the part-time Executive MBA (Dubai) and the part-time MBA Distance Learning (Online). This is an important School role, supporting the positioning and external visibility of our flagship portfolio that offers a truly global education experience. The Director will work closely with a range of internal stakeholder, such as the School Director of Education, the Deputy Dean and the Careers Team, to develop and maintain the MBA portfolio and contribute to the growth of an excellent student experience for all our MBA students. 

  • Overall responsibility for the School’s suite of MBA programmes.
  • Collaborating with the School Director of Internationalisation and colleagues our locations to ensure programmes delivered overseas mirror UK programmes and permit student mobility.
  • Working with the Dean, Deputy Dean and Business School Director of Operations and Director of Education (DOE) to develop and implement the Business School’s MBA strategy.

Person Specification

  • Normally, a higher Degree relevant to the discipline area (usually PhD) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Learning and Teaching, and Management and administration.
