Applications are invited for a Research Associate post in the Cardiff University School of Computer Science & Informatics, to work on the EPSRC Open Fellowship project ReStoRe (Reasoning about Structured Story Representations), which is focused on story-level language understanding. The overall aim of this project is to develop methods for inferring graph-structured representations of stories. For this post, the specific focus will be on developing commonsense reasoning strategies to fill the gap between what is explicitly stated in a story and what a human reader would infer by “reading between the lines”.

The position is full-time (35 hours per week), available from 1st November 2024 and is fixed term for 30 months. The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 6 scale, currently £39,347 - £44,263 per annum.

For an informal discussion of the post please contact Steven Schockaert by email at schockaerts1@cardiff.ac.uk.

For an informal chat about the School of Computer Science & Informatics, please contact the Deputy School Manager, Charlie Balcombe (balcombec@cardiff.ac.uk)
