The Head of PGR Enhancement and Development is responsible for delivering an innovative training programme for Strathclyde Postgraduate Researchers, ensuring the student voice and representation inform and enhance the experience. This is a significant area of activity for the University, key to our strategic ambitions for research and education.

FTE:  1 (35 hours/week)

The University of Strathclyde is a research-intensive institution with ambitious targets in postgraduate researcher (PGR) growth and is committed to delivering internationally leading research and an outstanding student experience. The University is looking for a creative leader to manage and influence key aspects and emerging priorities related to the enhancement of the PGR student experience, and can provide expertise on PGR policy matters, system development, interfacing with student support services on PGR specific needs. As a member of the Education Enhancement (EE) directorate leadership team, the post holder will have responsibility for leading a team committed to PGR development and the wider PGR student experience, working closely with the Director and Deputy Director. You will also work closely with the Director of the Strathclyde Doctoral School, colleagues in faculties and professional services, and with key external stakeholders, to promote and enhance the experience of the Strathclyde PGR student community and support excellence in researcher development. 

You will be expected to inform and forward plan future capacity and capability building for cross-institution, strategic projects and programmes of work relating to the wider PGR student experience, supporting the PGR monitoring framework and wider policies and guidance. This includes operational oversight of activities related to the PGR student voice such as co-ordination of Post Graduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) and associated enhancement plans, working in partnership with Departments, Faculties, StrathUnion and the Doctoral Researchers Group. 

The post holder will have strategic responsibility for the development and delivery of our specialised professional development programme, specifically tailored to enhance the PGR student experience and contribute to their success during their time at Strathclyde, supporting career aspirations and developing research leaders of the future.  This is a significant area of activity for the University, key to our strategic ambitions for research and education. You will excel at working within a team environment, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate innovation and creativity to build on and grow the success of the programme. You will have responsibility for management of staffing and budgetary resources within this area, managing risk, advising and reporting to institutional committees, including Senate.
