TITAN is one of the three UK telecoms hubs responsible for leading the governance functions for all three hubs and the Joint Open Infrastructure for Telecoms Research (JOINER) project. Together, these entities form the Federated Telecoms Hubs (FTH). The FTH has received a £40 million investment through the DSIT Technology Mission Fund (TMF). As part of its mission for translational research, the FTH develops intellectual properties and assets in line with the DSIT 5G Supply Chain Diversification Strategy. It will also create exploitation strategies and support the commercialization of UK telecoms technologies. 

Based in the Electrical Engineering Division in West Cambridge, you will be responsible for ensuring that the FTH delivers specialised skills development and training programmes which range from outreach programmes in schools to upskilling and lifelong learning programmes. In order to achieve this, you will lead the strategic and operational decision-making for skills and training programmes of the FTH including management of their finances as well as provide a range of specialist services to the wider community. This will require regular travel and liaison with key external and internal stakeholders within FTH.   

You will also be responsible for managing the FTH's relationships with teaching organisations within FTH's partner universities, including FTH's Management Board, DSIT, UKRI and International Advisory Group and will develop fundraising strategies and engage in fundraising activities, create business plans, and reach out to international philanthropic organisations to garner support. 

The successful candidate will hold a degree in engineering, science or relevant discipline, with post graduate, or equivalent, experience in the educational sector.  Basic training on legal and financial management (.e.g. MBA or CPD) would be desirable.  The successful candidate will possess exceptional innovative and strategic thinking and planning skills as well as excellent project management, time management and organisational skills combined with a strong attention to detail.  Additionally, the role requires an individual with excellent budget and programme management skills, including complex financial planning and management,  with the ability to manage a complex portfolio of educational programmes.  Experience in the development of novel educational programmes is essential for this role.  You will possess excellent interpersonal, networking and communications skills, including high-level relationship management skills. Experience and knowledge of the telecoms industry and of working at the industry/academic interface would be advantageous.  

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2025 in the first instance.
