The role

Reporting into the Head of Staff and Culture, the purpose of this role is to provide a comprehensive and first class recruitment and onboarding service to OBC and all prospective candidates.

The first point of contact for hiring managers, candidates and new starters, the Recruitment and Onboarding Officer will ensure that OBC is equipped with the knowledge, skills and resources to attract and recruit the best talent for our teams, ensuring that OBC remain competitive and attractive to the external market.                            

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct managers and employees to appropriate guidance channels and act as a point of escalation for key Recruitment and Onboarding matters or issues that arise.
  • First point of contact for all recruitment and onboarding queries and advice needs
  • Manage the OBC careers inbox ensuring all emails are reviewed and responded to in a timely manner
  • Manage all end to end processes for vacancies within OBC
  • Manage and monitor compliance against the “Authority to Recruit” (ATR) processes
  • Provide hiring managers with advice and guidance on all recruitment and selection processes, from recruitment through to onboarding, ensuring and promoting EDI at all stages
  • Work in partnership with hiring managers to review and ensure all job descriptions ad adverts are effective and legally compliant, identifying the most appropriate channels of recruitment
  • Manage OBC Careers Pages and all recruiter accounts held by OBC
  • Collaborate with hiring managers ensuring that shortlists are created, interview processes are managed effectively, candidates are co-ordinated with efficiently, and feedback is provided at all stages
  • Co-ordination of offers and raising of contracts and starter paperwork, ensuring compliance against all right to work and pre-employment check requirements
  • Co-ordination of induction and onboarding events for all new starters being welcomed into OBC.
  • Support in the delivery of core Generalist HR services, including and not limited to:  
    • Direct managers and employees to appropriate guidance channels and act as a point of escalation for key HR matters or issues that arise.
    • Assisting and advising on Performance Management, Disciplinaries, Grievances, Dismissals and Contractual Issues within the campus or other College Office locations.
    • Support the maintenance all HR operations workflow such SOP’s, training manuals, compliance training workshops and manager guides; Employee Relations (ER) case logs and sickness issues.
    • Manage and support various HR projects.
    • Acts as a point of the contact for the employees and liaise with line managers.       

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS  

Desirable

  • Experience in managing, administering and optimising Recruitment management Systems.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • CIPD Level 5, or equivalent educational achievement.

Essential Criteria

  • Available and willing to work occasional weekends.
  • Experience of working in a similar role (Ideally with In-House recruitment experience), with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related experience
  • Efficient HR administration and people skills
  • Fantastic knowledge of HR functions and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related HR software 
  • High level of organisational and conflict management skills
