Salary: The basic stipend will be according to the Senior Tutors’ Committee recommended scale for full-time stipendiary lecturers with a teaching stint of 6 hours per week (on a pro rata basis - currently £15,244 to £16,983, 2024/25 per annum depending on experience, 2024/25 rate to be confirmed). 

Oriel College seeks to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Computer Science for three terms from 1 October 2024 to end of Trinity Term, 2025, to cover a short-term teaching need. Subject to continuing need, the post may be extended for the academic year 2025-26. Candidates should hold or be near to completing a doctorate in a relevant field of Computer Science, and should be able to demonstrate relevant teaching experience, and be equipped to undertake tutorial teaching and associated duties.

The person appointed will be expected to undertake teaching for an average of 6 contact hours per week during term time to undergraduates at Oriel College and other colleges. The Lecturer must be able to teach the majority of first year courses and a selection of second year courses in the Computer Science syllabus.

The Lecturer will assist with general administration, the pastoral care of undergraduates, and admissions in week 10 of Michaelmas Term (in December).

The basic stipend will be according to the Senior Tutors’ Committee recommended scale for full-time stipendiary lecturers with a teaching stint of 6 hours per week (calculated on a pro rata basis – currently £15,244 to £16,983 per annum, depending on experience, 2024/25 rate to be confirmed).

The post-holder will also have access to a research allocation of £987. Contributory membership of USS (the Universities Superannuation Scheme) is also offered. The Lecturer will be entitled to free lunch and dinner in the Senior Common Room.
