Location: South Kensington/hybrid (but expected to travel to other campuses as required). Occasional travel to University of Cumbria sites as required.   

About the role:

  • The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) is an exciting new collaboration between the University of Cumbria and Imperial College London to develop and deliver a 4-year graduate entry medical degree in Cumbria, with the first students joining in 2025/26. Its vision is to be a collaborative and inclusive, innovative and research-informed medical school, producing skilled clinicians, who are adaptable and focused on the delivery of safe and sustainable, high-quality and person-centred care to improve health outcomes for the people of Cumbria.
  • This role presents an opportunity to join an established digital education team and contribute to the creation and success of the PCSM programme. The primary focus of the role will be to support the PCSM programme with the configuration of relevant learning technology systems and platforms, including a bespoke e-portfolio system, development of learning assets, and ongoing technical assistance, including support tickets.

What you would be doing:

  • Under the direction of the Learning Technology Lead, you will set up and configure relevant learning technology platforms and systems. They will support the PCSM teaching team with the design and creation of learning assets, and this may include working collaboratively with other team members, like learning designers, videographers and others.
  • They will create help documentation / videos, managing changes, updates and testing new features and applications whilst providing technical expertise/support and training to other staff members. You will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the quality, consistency and effectiveness of digital learning assets, tools, processes, guidelines and procedures. 

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of providing technical support for learning technologies such as VLEs, Turnitin, WordPress, multimedia applications etc
  • Experience in developing digital learning resources using authoring tools such as Articulate RISE
  • Excellent understanding of the use of web-based systems and mobile technology to support learning and teaching
  • Knowledge of best practice in standards-compliancy for accessibility and usability issues
  • Up-to-date knowledge of developments in digital learning, both in the UK and internationally, in order to improve and enhance users learning experience
  • Ability to assist in defining project scope, timelines and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage with both staff and students and provide excellent customer-focused service
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in the management and successful delivery of project outcomes and to prioritise workloads when working on multiple projects
