Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with the blood cancer myeloma and related conditions. We are now looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Applied Health Research team.

The Applied Health Research Programmes aim to transform diagnosis, treatment and care in myeloma and their related conditions and improve the patient/carer experience. We also aim to ensure the patient voice and Patient and Public Involvement in research is central to UK myeloma research activities.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in a team that gathers evidence that directly impacts patients and carers lived. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will report to the Principal Researcher in Applied Health Research and support the delivery of our ambitious plans through high-quality research, generating insights from available evidence, presenting at conferences and meetings, and implementing plans for dissemination.

The successful candidate will be expected, as a minimum, to have evidence of undertaking mixed-methods research (i.e. qualitative and quantitative research). You will have experience of managing and analysing large datasets and project management experience. The successful candidate will also have a minimum of 1-year postdoctoral research experience and a PhD in a relevant field of expertise.

This role will require some travel across the UK including regular visits to our Edinburgh office.

About You

We are looking for a passionate individual who is experienced in undertaking quantitative research. Ideal candidates will lead on the development and delivery of online surveys, analysis of large data sets, engage in Patient and Public Involvement, and have experience or a desire to work across our wide-ranging portfolio of applied health research.

Candidates will also be expected to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity in working closely with patients and their families. The successful candidate will therefore have the confidence and maturity to be a highly regarded ambassador for Myeloma UK.
