We wish to appoint a new Course Director for the MPhil Foundations of Clinical Psychology within the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge. The postholder will develop and oversee a new Master's level course in the foundational principles and practice of Clinical Psychology.  Due to the nature of the role, we welcome applications for those wishing to be considered for secondment.

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Psychologist who is experienced in the clinical practice of Clinical Psychology with HCPC registration and BPS membership; research in an area relevant to Clinical Psychology; and teaching/supervision of Clinical Psychologists. This member of staff will help lead the development of the MPhil Foundations of Clinical Psychology taking responsibility for the writing of the curricula, assessment, and all other documentation required to enable the course to open to applicants in October 2024 and for the course to run from October 2025. 

The appointee will take lead responsibility for proposing, organising and implementing long-term strategic planning, policy, audit and development of training relevant to the understanding and practice of Clinical Psychology from an introductory foundation level through the advanced PhD level. 

The appointee will be responsible for the recruitment and managerial oversight of course faculty working with and reporting to the Head of Department ensuring that the course is embedded in the Department of Psychiatry -- offering development opportunities throughout the Department. 

The appointee will play a key role in maintaining the department's reputation for excellent teaching by designing, delivering and assessing postgraduate-level material on Clinical Psychology related topics, and managing the wider course team to facilitate both teaching and research excellence among colleagues. 

The post-holder will be expected to teach and supervise students and will be the named Principal Supervisor for all course students, submitting termly reports as required as well as delegating and overseeing the teaching required of the all the course staff. 

The appointee will demonstrate a high level of competence and an independent standing in organisational development and strategic planning; research; management and leadership of a staff team; the practice of Clinical Psychology as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist across statutory and third sector organisations; research and teaching in the field of Clinical Psychology including publication in peer reviewed journals; supervision of other Clinical Psychologists.
