The Role and the Department
The Event Durham team is the University’s Conference and Tourism team, responsible for managing all incoming commercial enquiries, and converting these enquiries to bookings, generating income for the University and supporting activities such as, but not limited to, academic and residential conferences, meetings, corporate events, weddings, B&B accommodation, etc. Annually, the Event Durham team receives over 2,000 enquiries and books and manages over 1,600 events.
As Event Durham Coordinator (Corporate), you will be responsible for providing a consistently high-level of customer service and coordinating a seamless event management service, primarily to senior colleagues, such as the Vice-Chancellor (VC), University Executive Committee (UEC) members, International Office and DARO. Events range from the VC’s Annual Reception, private dining for our major funders, visits from international leaders, to regular UEC and Council meetings.
You will also support other areas within Event Durham, handling incoming enquiries and supporting with the management of events such as academic conferences, particularly in vacation periods when the number of high-profile University events reduces, and the number of income-generating activities increases.
The Estates and Facilities Directorate provides a range of essential services to Durham University and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses.
