ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Plan appropriate, effective and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversity
  • Plan teaching sessions which accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources, including digital learning (lesson planning)
  • Participate in the development of module material and layout on the VLE as required
  • Apply the principles of learning to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students
  • Contribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the Centres’ Health and Safety procedures.
  • Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to students to enable them to improve and achieve their qualifications
  • Prepare students for summative assessment whether for an exam, course work, presentation or assignments etc. 
  • Provide revision and exam preparation material for students and deliver exam preparation sessions where required 
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and application to their studies by individual conversations with students, referrals to progress coaches or where appropriate, senior management
  • Support students to progress to the University by being proactive in liaising with University Schools and link tutors
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students in your care and refer to support services where appropriate
  • Be aware of and comply with all Centre quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material (including VLE content) programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviews
  • Engage in professional development to improve teaching and learning practice, and update subject specialist knowledge
  • Undertake reflection and self-evaluation of personal teaching practice and continuing professional development
  • Prepare for and participate in appropriate Centre events (eg induction activity, enrichment, University school events, award ceremonies etc)
  • Share best practice and contribute to the Art and Design bank of effective resources/ideas/activities for teaching and learning.


ABOUT YOU

  • A Cert Ed, PCET or PGCE teaching qualification (working towards, or willingness to achieve)
  • Qualified to Degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a related field
  • Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at

level 3

  • Thorough subject knowledge of Art, Design and Design History
  • Subject knowledge of Media Studies
  • Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at

level 4

  • Experience in teaching International Students
  • Experience in supporting students in a pastoral role
  • Experience in developing learning and teaching through digital learning platforms
