Role Description
The Department of Mathematics is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics for a fixed term of eight months. Applicants are expected to have a background in an area of Applied Mathematics, including Mathematical Physics, Mathematical Biology, Quantum Information or related fields. The successful applicant will be expected to support the Department's teaching portfolio in Mathematics by delivering modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contributing to associated administrative tasks.
We are one of the University's founding departments, with staff and students from around the world. We have a diverse range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary research collaborations, across the University and worldwide. These enable us to cultivate a dynamic and creative environment for the advanced study of mathematics. Our undergraduate and postgraduate courses cover the full spectrum of mathematical sub-disciplines. Every student is supported by academic and pastoral supervision, problems classes, small-group seminars and peer-assisted learning run by our proactive Mathematics Society.
We are a research-led department. We have high-calibre staff who produce innovative and technically demanding research on a world stage with a healthy span of research areas in pure and applied mathematics and statistics. All of our research was rated world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*) in REF2021 in all three categories: outputs, impact and environment.
