Nuffield College seeks to appoint an Academic and Student Administration Officer who will be a key member of the College’s Academic Office.
The postholder is responsible for the on-course student administration function of the Academic Office and for supporting the three subject group meetings within the College (Economics, Politics, and Sociology), including associated administration, as well as servicing other College committees as required. They are also responsible for administering the process of appointing visiting students and academic visitors, (in consultation with the Senior Tutor and College Registrar), and for making the relevant practical arrangements. The Academic and Student Administration Officer works closely with the Chairs of the three subject groups, with the Senior Tutor and College Registrar, with the Research Support and Administrative Officer, with the EDI and Welfare Officer, and with the College Accommodation Manager. They also provide support to the College’s academic activities more generally as required.
Applicants should be educated to first-degree level or equivalent. They should have administrative experience, as a result of work or study, preferably within the Higher Education Sector. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to acquire institutional knowledge quickly are essential. Applicants should also possess excellent written communication and numeracy skills, as well as organisational and IT skills. The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills; a flexible and proactive approach to work; and a commitment to supporting and improving the experience of academics, students and academic visitors of the College. Experience of servicing committees, planning and managing events, and/or updating and maintaining websites would be an advantage.
The post is intended to be a full-time position, but we will also consider applications from candidates who wish to hold the post on a part-time basis.
