About us
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Culture, Nature & Health Research Group, led by Prof Helen Chatterjee. The group is interested in the biopsychosocial impacts of arts, culture, and nature on health, wellbeing, and social inclusion, with a focus on marginalized communities and health inequalities. Additionally, the group's work emphasizes the intersection between public health and environmental health, known as ecological public health. Currently, the group is leading a national research program titled ‘Mobilising Community Assets to Tackle Health Inequalities,’ funded by UKRI-AHRC, in partnership with the National Centre for Creative Health.
About the role
The Research Fellow will be an active member of the research team, assisting in the planning and delivery of inequality-focused research activities to achieve the overall objectives of the Mobilising Community Assets to Tackle Health Inequalities programme.
You will undertake scoping research, conduct surveys and interviews, gather and analyse new and existing data (data mining) and implement participatory research and evaluation methods. You will work across the intersecting fields of health and socio-economic inequalities, planetary and ecological public health, social prescribing, creative health, and/or arts/culture/nature/other community-based health programmes. The Culture, Research and Health Research Group work collaboratively to plan and deliver this inter-disciplinary and inter-sectoral programme of research. We work remotely, with weekly online meetings, and regular in person team meetings at UCL (currently every 2 months).
This is a 12-month fixed-term appointment (maternity leave cover) until August 2025, and interview Date(s) are scheduled for August.
Please note this role is also available on a secondment basis to existing UCL employees.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.
We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible, and this role is eligible for remote working with <20% of time spent on site.
Closing Date: 01/08/2024 – 23:59 (UK time)
If you have any queries about the role, please contact Prof Helen Chatterjee. If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online or have any queries about the application process, please contact the Biosciences staffing team.
