Lecturer in Past Climates and Earth System Change

Cardiff University

To provide cover for an internal secondment the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Cardiff University, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Past Climates and Earth System Change.

The successful candidate should share our passion for high quality research and research-led education and will contribute to a range of undergraduate Earth and environmental science teaching, including geology practical classes and fieldwork. You will also co-supervise postgraduate research students. The successful candidate will show evidence of the ability to develop and sustain an internationally-recognised, externally-funded interdisciplinary research programme in Past Climates and Earth System Change and we are particularly interested in hiring a colleague who uses ocean sediments and/or geochemical proxies to investigate Earth system change.

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is a lively and dynamic community that aims to promote sustainability through education, dissemination and direct participation, enabling students and staff to make positive changes to our environmental impact, in particular supporting Cardiff University’s declaration of a Climate Emergency and aim to become carbon neutral (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030.

The School is committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting inclusive working practices in STEMM subjects in higher education. Staff and students from the School are active members of the global Unlearning Racism in Geoscience (URGE) community. We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority because they are under-represented within the School.

The position is full-time (35 hours per week), available immediately and is a three-year fixed term appointment.

The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualification and experience, within the following grade band:

£39,347 to 44,263 per annum (Grade 6)
