We are recruiting for a Clinical Trial Coordinator maternity cover role within the Digital Cancer Research (DCR) team in the CRUK National Biomarker Centre in the CRUK Manchester Institute. The aim of the Clinical trial coordinator post is to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the technology clinical trials. This includes ensuring that regulatory and operational commitments are met, to ensure the smooth set-up and running of clinical trials. The post holder, as part of the DCR team, will work with teams across; The University of Manchester, The Christie R&D, ECMT Research Management Team, and other collaborating Institutions to deliver the portfolio of technology clinical trials.

The post is within the DCR’s technology clinical trials sub-team. As a member of the Technology Clinical Trials sub-team, this role will work to deliver clinical trials of innovative technologies, where patients are co-investigators in their own research.

You will:

  • Deliver technology clinical trial protocols, contribute to the development of new protocols.
  • Operationalise technology clinical trials at the site level.
  • Develop technology trials that are specifically designed to evaluate the benefit to patients.

Background:

The DCR sits at the interface between cancer research and new emerging analytical and digital methodologies. The goal of the team is to use innovative technologies to improve cancer care. We enable patients to play a more active role in their clinical trial participation by using digital technologies; create digital tools to allow clinicians to visualise and analyse clinical trial data, and use cutting edge AI technologies to enhance biomarker discovery and augment clinical trials.

About you:

You should have a degree in a scientific discipline or other relevant subject, and significant relevant experience, or a relevant postgraduate qualification, along with:

  • Operational experience of clinical trials within the NHS and academic settings.
  • An understanding of the role of patient involvement in research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate, influence in contentious situations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with clinical databases, clinical report forms, fully aware of information governance requirements within the NHS.
  • In-depth understanding of clinical research process, patient information systems and relevant clinical research relevant standards and legislation.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and oncology.
