Catering & Hospitality Assistants play a super-important role in the UEA’s ‘The Campus Kitchen’ in providing efficient support for barista and food service throughout the day.

Working in any of our 14 outlets (with a focus on Unio and BOX) and busy hospitality department, you will assist with preparation and service of food and drinks, delivered catering, keeping our outlets clean and tidy, and even assisting at a variety of functions and events.

BOX is an afternoon into the evening pizza operation, served in the university bars with a menu consisting of hand-stretched and topped pizza, garlic bread, loaded nachos and dough balls.

Unio has evolved into an Asian-influenced barista outlet serving sushi, onigiri, gyoza, poke salads & rice boxes. Frozen mochi ice cream balls are available in 6 flavours and a wide selection of Bubble Tea flavours are made-to-order, alongside a menu of handcrafted coffees.

Campus Kitchen are excited to have 2 part time positions available for front of house staff to assist with the everyday operation of these outlets.

Details of preferred hours and weeks per year should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

The 2 positions available are:

  • 1 x 26 hours per week (predominantly evenings), 39 weeks per year
  • 1 x 16 hours per week (predominantly weekends), 39 weeks per year

Is one of these roles for me?

You will be able to work hard within a fast-paced environment; consistently demonstrate great customer service; display enthusiasm and have a willingness to support your colleagues.

Previous experience of working in a catering environment with some barista training or experience is beneficial, but not essential as full training & coaching will be given. Shift patterns will be for both weekdays and weekends in Unio and BOX, working both day and evening shifts to suit the business needs.

What are the benefits of working for UEA?

As well as working for a business that cares and supports the mental health and wellbeing of their personnel, you will also benefit from:

  • No split shifts
  • 34 days annual leave (pro-rata for part time / term time contracts) which includes an allowance for bank holidays and an equivalent allowance for UEA customary days
  • Family and Work-life balance policies including considerable maternity, paternity, shared parental leave and adoption leave.
  • Generous pension scheme with life cover for dependants, plus incapacity cover.
  • Health and Wellbeing: discounted access to Sportspark facilities, relaxation rooms, 320 acres of rolling parkland, wellbeing walks, Wellbeing Ambassador network, medical centre, Occupational Health and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.

If you meet all the essential requirements of the person specification, including a love of working in the service industry it’d be great to hear from you.
