The role

The UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN - www.ukrn.org) is a national collaboration whose vision is for the UK research system to be outstanding in conducting and promoting rigorous and transparent research. Associated with the UKRN is a set of metaresearch (research on research, or science studies) projects based at the Schools of Psychological Science and Education at the University of Bristol. The principal one of these is COMET (a collaboration also with the University of Sussex), which is investigating how universities use research evidence to inform their decisions affecting research culture.

This role is the main support and engagement lead for the COMET and related metaresearch projects. It involves supporting a research team of five, plus the principal investigators and a senior project manager. It also involves enabling good stakeholder communication and relationship management through the organisation of meetings, events, workshops, and the use of online tools and social media.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting staff in the project management of major project activities, including: day to day administration; management and delivery of work plans; monitoring of budgets; quality assurance (QA); communication and relationship management, supporting project meetings and coordinating logistics/administration for visiting academics.
  • Developing a network of contacts across the University to support work activities, and with external contacts to facilitate good relationships between the UK Reproducibility Network metaresearch projects and key collaborators.
  • Planning and organising project activities (both simple and complex) such as regional and national workshops, webinars, focus groups, interviews, surveys, procurement of guides and briefing materials, evaluation, and communications.
  • Researching, collating, organising and editing material for inclusion in reports, promotional materials, websites and other communications. Prepare documents and correspondence and manage the storage, archive and retrieval of key documentation.

You should apply if

  • Proven ability to interact effectively at all levels on behalf of a senior manager and with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
  • Proven office and administrative experience, including demonstrable strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving capability.
  • Ability to be responsive and flexible in meeting the dynamic needs of senior academic staff, key stakeholders, and managers
