Pembroke College wishes to appoint a four-hour College Lecturer (Career Development)in Private Law from 1st September 2024 for two years. The Lecturer will be required to undertake an average of four hours of teaching per week to undergraduates reading Jurisprudence (Law), during term time and averaged across the year. The College expects applicants to be able to teach the following:

  • Contract Law
  • Land Law

An ability to conduct some revision in Trusts Law would be an advantage.

In addition to the tutorial teaching, the Lecturer will lead classes and moots, and be expected to take part in undergraduate admissions and open days, to help with course organisation and administration, and with pastoral duties.

The successful candidate should have a doctorate or be in the second year at least of doctoral research; should preferably have teaching experience, and a willingness to participate in administrative activities and the pastoral oversight of undergraduates.

The stipend will be in the range £10,162 - £11,322 depending on experience and qualifications. This is a fixed term career development post aimed at offering academics the opportunity to gain experience in teaching and administration. The successful post-holder will benefit from mentoring, an individually agreed personal development plan, a personal research and teaching allowance of £806.67, shared use of a teaching room, and an entitlement to take two meals per week in college throughout the year. All salary and stipend figures are 2023-24 rates and are subject to annual uplift.
