Join Birkbeck, University of London, as we seek a dedicated Web Editor to enhance and optimise our website and online prospectus content for prospective students.

We are looking for an experienced Web Editor to join the team on a 12 month fixed-term contract. Your role will support our work to make Birkbeck's website as helpful and user friendly as possible for our student audiences.

As a Web Editor, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks to maintain and develop our website:

  • Collaborate with the web team to ensure the website and course pages are user-friendly for prospective students.
  • Participate in projects to add detailed course information to our online prospectus.
  • Enhance copy on key recruitment pages, adhering to editorial house style and SEO best practices.
  • Perform day-to-day website edits and updates as part of the web team.

We are looking for a Web Editor with the following skills and experience:

  • Understanding of web usability and user needs.
  • Knowledge of SEO and how to publish optimised content.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and other web analytics tools.
  • Awareness of GDPR and WCAG 2.1.
  • Ability to use a content management system.
  • Strong editorial, proof-reading, and copywriting skills and experience in developing web content.

Remuneration

£32,962 rising to £37,143 per annum. Grade 5 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
