About the Department

In the Department of Art we specialise in making, curating and writing about contemporary art in a dynamic, critical and interdisciplinary environment. We have a world leading reputation, and work with a network of artists, curators, galleries and museums both in London and internationally to create an inspiring and dynamic place in which to study and develop an artistic practice. Many graduates of the Department are among the most recognised names working in art today.

About the Role

You will provide teaching, technical support and practical advice to enable students to realise their ideas across a wide range of stitching processes and applications. You’ll need to be able to manage and support pattern-cutting, sewing, garment construction, three-dimensional sculpture, and working with a wide range of materials. A knowledge of embroidery, working with latex and inflatable sculptures would be a distinct advantage.

The position is available from 2 September 2024.

About the Candidate

We are seeking a talented and creative individual to be part of our highly skilled team which provides world class practical teaching to all students in the Department of Art at Goldsmiths. A degree (or equivalent) from an art background is essential. You will have a proven track record of working as an Art Practice Tutor. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to use initiative in the performance of your duties, to co-ordinate, plan and prioritise work, work flexibly and without close supervision. You will also be willing to work as part of a team and have the ability to adapt to new technologies and to self-skill where appropriate.
