Maternity Cover
Location: South Kensington Campus
Summary
This is an exciting time to join the Student Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service at Imperial College! We have been investing heavily in our Service to better support our students through university life. We have grown from a small team to a diverse and multifaceted group of over 30 professionals striving to deliver the best experience possible for our students.
We are now searching for a Service Administrator to cover a period of maternity leave. This is an interesting and varied role that is integral to Service’s appointment making and student registration processes.
Location: Based at the College’s South Kensington campus and may be required to work at the College’s other campuses. Full-time Staff in this team currently have one allocated work from home day per week set in line with service operational needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
This post will, amongst other tasks, support the management of appointment bookings for students. The post holder will regularly act as the first point of contact for students visiting reception and registering for support. Under the direction of our mental health staff, they will also support liaison with external bodies such as GPs, NHS specialised services, mental health charities and other College departments.
Given the nature of the Service, the post holder will often encounter students who may be anxious, distressed, and overwhelmed. As such it is essential that they can remain calm, compassionate, hold professional boundaries, and follow set protocols.
We ask that candidates keep in mind that this post will involve coming into contact with information about difficult and challenging experiences, so personal resilience is crucial. We support staff with regular debriefing and space to discuss when challenging situations arise.
Essential requirements
This post requires someone with strong administrative experience, excellent initiative, and the ability to make sound judgements in the face of situations that relate to the safety and welfare of students. As this post works with a large range of people, outstanding communication skills and compassion are vital. The accompanying job description provides full details on the essential requirements for this role.
Further Information
This is a Full Time and Fixed Term post until 31 July 2025 based at the South Kensington campus and will require travelling to other campuses when needed.
Should you require any further details on the role please contact: Jonathan Dempsey, j.dempsey@imperial.ac.uk
