Job Summary
A Research Associate in glycoengineering of Pichia pastoris is sought to work on the development of humanised yeast strains for the production of therapeutic proteins and vaccines. The post is funded by the UKRI as part of an Engineering Biology Mission Hub in the production of glycan-based products. The main focus will be humanisation of the N-linked and O-linked glycan metabolism of the non-conventional yeast, Pichia pastoris. The project will involve strain engineering, small-scale production of proteins, and the characterisation of their glycan profiles.
Duties and responsibilities
You will design genetic constructs, transform, and select yeast strains, perform small-scale expression and test the resulting post-translational modifications of the proteins. You will use genome modification techniques to alter the glycan profile, changing the native glycosylation pathways to be more compatible with use for human therapeutics.
