The Role
Become a key player in the newly constructed Engineering Buildings A and B, part of the Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD). Along with the James Chadwick and York Street Buildings, MECD forms a premier hub of engineering and materials expertise in the UK.
You’ll be responsible for implementing bespoke emergency response arrangements, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring compliance with national legislation and University requirements across 21 buildings. Your role will also involve developing and championing continuity and resilience plans, ensuring practical and sustainable solutions are available and tested.
We're seeking an individual who can navigate both operational and strategic levels, managing the fire alarm system for MECD while influencing Faculty decision-makers. You’ll support the development of comprehensive plans and ensure they’re effectively communicated to a wide range of stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll lead the day-to-day management of the MECD emergency organization, ensuring compliant emergency and incident response measures across all FSE buildings. You’ll also support the development and implementation of continuity and resilience measures.
Our ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification in fire, emergency, incident management, business continuity, or risk. You will have specialist knowledge of fire safety and emergency response regulations, with practical experience in fire detection and alarm systems. You can work accurately under pressure, communicate complex information clearly, and build effective relationships with various stakeholders. You will have significant experience managing emergencies in large buildings, drafting emergency plans, and developing business continuity and resilience plans. Ideally, you will also have experience with multi-agency response arrangements, JESIP, and working within the Higher Education sector or a similar environment.
