The University of Sheffield International College is seeking a Mathematics tutor to teach on our Level 3 and/or Level 6 programmes. The post holder will be part of the College’s Mathematics Team.  
 
ABOUT THE ROLE 

  • The academic tutor will be responsible for teaching on one or more of the following modules delivered to groups of international students: Mathematics (Level 3), Mathematics (Level 6), Statistics (Level 6), Java Programming (Level 6).  The teaching role includes marking assessments and the provision of feedback to students.
  • The post holder will be fluent in both written and spoken English with experience marking and administering assessments at a minimum of RQF level 3, along with a proven track record of delivering Mathematics modules within UK Higher Education, Further Education, or Sixth form.
  • The successful candidate will also be competent in the use of IT skills related to teaching, including the use of Virtual Learning Environments (e.g., Blackboard).
  • Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development, strong record-keeping and effective communication skills, and flexibility in managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Candidates able to teach Mathematics, Statistics or Java Programming at Level 6, candidates with experience teaching international students and candidates with a working knowledge of LaTeX will be prioritised.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Bachelor degree in Mathematics or a related field (Individuals with a master’s degree or working towards a PhD are encouraged to apply)
  • Experience teaching Mathematics at RQF level 3 or equivalent teaching experience
  • Experience of assessment marking at a minimum of RQF level 3 
  • Demonstrable ability of developing teaching materials and assessments 
  • Proficient use of IT for teaching and administration
