The University of Sheffield International College, provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, is seeking an Academic Tutor specialising in Management disciplines. The College offers pathway programmes designed to prepare international students for undergraduate (International Foundation Year) or postgraduate studies (Pre-Masters) at the University of Sheffield. Students study subject-specific modules and an English Language module for two semesters, achieving specific grades to progress to their degree.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

  • The Business and Economics team teaches students on the following pathways:
    • Business, Management, and Finance
    • Economics
    • Information Studies
  • Teach modules on the Business, Management, and Finance pathway to students pursuing degrees in Management or Accounting and Finance.
  • Modules taught include Management, Project Skills for Management, Project Skills for Economics, Accounting and Finance, and Principles of Economics at Level 3; Management, Accounting and Finance, Advanced Economics, and Statistics and Econometrics at Level 
  • Teach topics relevant to management to small groups of around 20 international students across our Level 3 programmes. 
  • Assess students via formative and summative assessments
  • Engage with quality assurance procedures, such as moderation processes
  • Work as part of a busy team, contributing in meetings and communicating effectively with colleagues


ABOUT YOU

  • A Bachelor degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience teaching in Business and Management disciplines (or a related field) in UK Higher Education, Further Education, Sixth Form, or equivalent teaching experience
  • Experience in module coordination or ability to coordinate a team to achieve specific goals
  • Success in assessing students at a minimum of RQF level 3 (A-level/Foundation level), with proficiency in marking, developing, and administering assessments
  • Experience teaching accounting and finance disciplines and working with international students (desirable)
  • Demonstrable ability to use a range of platforms to deliver and administer teaching (e.g., VLE, WooClap, Mentimeter, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Proficient use of IT for teaching administration
