Applications are invited for a full or part-time (minimum 0.6fte) Communications, Engagement & PPIE Manager to work in the Primary Care Unit of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Primary Care Unit (PCU) core administrative team, liaising closely with the Head of the PCU and the PCU Strategy Group to develop, implement and maintain internal and external communications and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) strategies.

**Main duties and responsibilities of the job:**

  • Define key communications aims and objectives and communications messages for the PCU. 
  • Design and implement communications strategies in line with PCU key communications objectives and messages. 
  • Develop guidelines for PCU internal and external communications. 
  • Develop and implement an annual schedule of key communication tasks, which the PCU can build on. 
  • Be the principal contact between the PCU and the DPHPC communications team. 
  • Co-ordinate PPIE activities within the PCU, including undertaking periodic reviews of PPIE activities, and advising PCU researchers on how to include PPIE in their research. 
  • Help to run the Inequalities Research Network in the PCU. 
  • Attend regular meetings with the PCU Strategy Group, to develop and report on PCU Communications Strategy, and projects. 
  • Assist with the implementation of the PCU's engagement and impact strategy. 
  • Develop and maintain a set of communication tools for the PCU which can be utilised for internal and external communications, including the PCU website, intranet, newsletter and mailing lists, accessible to PCU staff and students. 
  • Draft press releases, project overviews, podcasts and audio recordings and will document PCU events, where applicable. 
  • Assist with the organisation of PCU events.

**Applicants should be educated to degree level and be able to demonstrate skills and/or experience in the following areas:**

  • Developing objectives, aims and key marketing messages for a complex project or members organisation. 
  • Managing and implementing communications campaigns, including media relations campaigns and experience of managing events. 
  • Managing communications both internal and external to a diverse membership-based organisation.
  • Identifying opportunities for developing collaborative communications projects.

The funds for this post are available until 31st March 2026 in the first instance.

Location - Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Forvie Public Health Building, University Forvie Site, Robinson Way, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge CB2 0SR (approx 2 miles south of city centre)
