Manchester Metropolitan University's Law School is recruiting and is offering outstanding opportunities for excellent scholars committed to making a difference for our students and wider society through excellent education that transforms lives and high quality, impactful research. We are based within a fantastic global city and are a warm, supportive and inclusive Law School community.

As part of the University's significant and continued investment in the Law School's new strategic vision, there are exciting opportunities available at Lecturer level, contributing to the delivery of programmes across the academic portfolio and joining a vibrant and rapidly growing research community.

In addition to a permanent appointment, there is also an opportunity for a teaching-focussed fixed term one year maternity leave cover lectureship.

Every appointment will be expected to deliver excellent learning and teaching in, at least, one core modules and elective modules at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

We have a number of areas of teaching need - especially in areas of Company and Commercial Law, Contract, Property and Employment Law - and particular interests in digital legal education and sustainability would also be welcome, to build on the School's leadership in this area.

Our programmes have a strong contextual focus and we are keen to appoint colleagues who are motivated to develop transformative pedagogies, that support our practice-engaged and research-led legal education and are committed to delivering an outstanding student experience for all of our diverse cohorts.

In this round, we wish to build on a number of recent outstanding appointments to recruit, in particular, to the following area of research strength for the permanent position.

  • Corporate & Professional Regulation

Our other key areas of research strength are aligned to:

  • Equalities & Human Rights - including aspects of Social Welfare Law
  • Sports Law & Governance; Popular and Creative Cultures
  • Legal Geographies, Environmental Law and Sustainability,

We have a supportive and inclusive research environment, with a strong commitment to support early career colleagues. Our research groups are not exclusive, with most members of the School's research community playing an active role in more than one research group.

We are proud of our diverse student community and the differences that their experiences bring to the School and to professional, public and third sectors after they successfully graduate. We are keen to ensure that our staff group is as representative as possible and so welcome applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief or identity. We recognise the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring and particularly encourage applications from groups which are underrepresented in the University workforce.

To apply, please submit your CV and Covering Letter via our application portal. For informal enquiries, please contact Andrew Francis (Dean of Manchester Law School) on Andrew.Francis@mmu.ac.uk

Interviews are expected to take place at the end of the third week in July.
