We are seeking a clinical academic in Haematology, to make a critical contribution to shaping clinical and translational research in the Division of Clinical Medicine within the School of Medicine & Population Health (SMPH) at the University of Sheffield. The role will encompass research and leadership in the field of haematology and haematopoietic cellular therapy across a range of specialities, including oncology, neurosciences and infectious diseases. Important facets of the portfolio include the ability to nurture and support early career researchers across all career stages and fostering translational research and links to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The post-holder will provide high-level academic leadership in SMPH and the Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre, as the need arises.
The appointee will be an honorary consultant within the Clinical Haematology Service and Sheffield Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy Programme with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Haematology service provides local and tertiary care services, including BMT and CAR-T services and Specialist integrated Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Services, for the South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire region (around 2 million population). Regional haematological services to the age of 16 years are provided by nearby Sheffield Children’s Hospital, with which there are opportunities for academic collaboration. There are also opportunities for academic interactions within NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT).
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
