At Te Kura Mātai Kori Tinana | Department of Exercise Sciences we seek to understand the role of exercise in sustaining health, improving disease outcomes, and enhancing human performance through physical activity and sport.

Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

This exciting new role offers a passionate academic with a strong background in exercise prescription an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver innovative research and teaching to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students.

As a Lecturer, you will ensure that our students will have a positive learning experience that is informed by up-to-date research and supported by creative learning technologies. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of courses with a focus on the scientific principles that underpin effective exercise prescription across the spectrum of human performance from clinical populations to athletes. The ability to teach biomechanics, functional anatomy, exercise physiology, or motor control and skill acquisition is also preferred.

We are also looking for candidates who can establish an innovative and competitive individual research programme in exercise prescription or the related biophysical principles. You will be involved in the co-development of projects that attract external funding to support an active and viable research programme. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• A PhD in Sport and Exercise Sciences or Human Movement.
• An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Exercise or Sports Science.
• Demonstrated history or research excellence with peer-reviewed publications and securing research funding.
• Evidence of curricula design and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in exercise prescription.
• Demonstratable potential to build sustainable relationships with industry partners and evidence of the ability to promote partnerships and research links with outside sporting and professional organisations/agencies.
• Relevant teaching qualification and/or related tertiary teaching experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge in the major sub-disciplines of Exercise and Sport Science

This is a permanent, full-time 1 FTE (40 hours per week) role.

Remuneration:  L1-L7, $94,981 to $113,463

The Department of Exercise Sciences brings together physiotherapy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, movement neuroscience, and exercise and sport psychology to investigate the role of exercise and physical activity in sustaining health, improving disease outcomes, and enhancing human performance.
