Disability Adviser

The Disability and Neurodiversity team is looking to recruit a full-time, permanent Disability Adviser.

Working closely with the Senior Disability Adviser and other team members in Disability and Neurodiversity, the post holder will primarily be responsible for the advice, guidance, and support, on an individual or group basis, of disabled students and applicants.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality service for students with a wide range of diagnoses to support disabled students around all aspects of university life, helping to develop inclusive practices across the University. The post holder will also work within the team to contribute to projects to develop the service or activities to meet the needs of students.

About you

Knowledge of the needs of disabled students in a higher education setting, extensive practical working knowledge of DSAs and related processes, an excellent understanding of key legislative requirements, and experience of designing, delivering, and evaluating training and workshops are all essential criteria for the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of developments within the HE sector, and demonstrate resilience in a time of change. Under the guidance of the Senior Disability Adviser, the successful candidate will promote good practices across the institution and will be able to work flexibly, sometimes outside of core hours and across the year, both on-campus and remotely.

Expertise in mental health or qualifications meeting DfE requirements for conducting specialist tutoring or mentoring is desirable.
