THE ROLE
The Conservation Research Adviser plays a crucial role within the Woodland Trust's Conservation Outcomes and Evidence Team, leveraging research and evidence to guide conservation strategies across the UK. This position works alongside the Evidence Manager and other team members to ensure that research collaborations are impactful and applied through the Conservation Research Programme. The adviser will actively engage with the research community to enhance and promote the research programme, including managing collaborations, projects and exploring potential research opportunities. Additionally, they will be responsible for communicating the findings and evidence generated by our research to a broader audience. 

This is a hybrid working role, where you’ll work part of your time at home and part of the time from a Woodland Trust office.

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

THE CANDIDATE
You are highly qualified, preferably with a higher degree or PhD in conservation, ecology, environmental, or biological sciences. You possess a deep understanding of UK conservation and environmental issues, especially those related to native trees, woods, and wildlife, coupled with a strong commitment to their preservation. You will have experience with university research processes in both scientific and social sciences within the UK and be adept at managing contracts and budgets. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to convey complex scientific ideas effectively to diverse audiences. You ae a proficient collaborator and networker with a track record of developing and sustaining partnerships, as well as being skilled in creating efficient systems and processes.
