An exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Manager to join the Norwich Medical School to work in partnership with the Head of School and other academic leaders to ensure that the strategic and operational objectives set out by the School are achieved.
This is a role encompassing a wide variety of topics within the lifecycle of both the School and the Faculty. Key areas of focus include: financial forecasting, budget setting, and budgetary management; assisting with teaching planning; resource management and a central role in the School’s workload modelling and management activities; process monitoring and process development to ensure the School is able to engage with other units within the University (e.g. Learning and Teaching Service, Careers Central, Research and Innovation); leadership of Faculty Professional Services (FPS) colleagues and maintaining a leadership role within the School Executive. It’s a role that covers the full range of activities that enables a School to function and ensures that the business and administrative requirements of the School are met.
School Managers also take on Faculty wide projects that are related to vital moments in the academic cycle, such as Welcome Week, developments in teaching, research, and employability such as curriculum review, research ethics, and placement provision. In addition they undertake projects within the FPS group that include development, culture, and wellbeing, such as upskilling IT knowledge and mentoring.
You will have a degree or equivalent qualification or experience in a similar role. Experience of recruiting, inducting and managing staff, managing budgets and developing processes are essential. You will also have project management experience, be able to problem solve and analyse and translate data. Awareness of the Higher Education sector would be advantageous.
