Established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) is a pioneering collaborative venture between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE), HKUST(GZ) is the first independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”.
With a commitment to innovative and cross-disciplinary education, HKUST(GZ) is dedicated to setting new standards in integrated educational development. Our goal is to become a globally renowned high-level university, nurturing forward-thinking, high-level, and innovative talents.
In response to the increasingly complex challenges of a rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) has adopted a groundbreaking academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to replace the traditional "school" and "department" model. This innovative approach facilitates cross-disciplinary integration and the development of emerging and frontier disciplines, positioning HKUST(GZ) as a leader in the global higher education community.
HKUST(GZ) comprises four Hubs - Function Hub, Information Hub, Systems Hub, and Society Hub - and 16 thrusts. In 2023, we began admitting undergraduate students, offering programs in artificial intelligence, data science & big data technology, and smart manufacturing engineering.
Join us in shaping the future of education and research at HKUST(GZ).
