The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) is a university without borders, where students and staff alike are empowered and supported in the dynamic and global city of Ningbo. As the first Sino-foreign university open its doors in China in 2004, UNNC is a leader for international higher education innovation, offering degree programmes from undergraduate to postgraduate level, and a fast-growing hub for excellence in teaching and learning, research, innovation, and knowledge exchange.

  • At UNNC we have over 9,000 students and more than 7% are from China's Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan regions and other overseas countries.
  • We have over 1100 members of staff, split across academic and professional services.
  • Our staff and students come from about 70 countries and regions around the world.
  • The University is situated in a 144 acre (584,666m²) campus in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
  • We have three faculties: Business, Science and Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • We offer 29 undergraduate courses and 18 postgraduate taught courses.
  • We were awarded a licence to grant PhDs in December 2008 and have around 900 PhD students.

UNNC Awards in 2022-2023

  • World’s top 2% scientists: Released by Stanford-Elsevier in 2023, 21 UNNC scholars were included in the single-year database and 8 scholars in the career-long database of the world’s top 2% scientists.
  • Global top 1% subjects: In the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database released in 2023, the subjects of Economics and Business, Engineering, and Social Sciences General of UNNC are in the top 1% global rankings.
  • Global ranking academic subjects: Released by Shanghai Ranking in 2023, Six subjects have been listed in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).
  • Highly Cited Researchers: Released by Elsevier in 2023, 11 academics from UNNC were included in the “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list.
  • Diversity and Inclusion Award: UNNC was recognised in 2022 by the British Chambers of Commerce in China for outstanding contributions to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
