Welcome to Heriot-Watt University from the Vice-Principal and Provost.
I am delighted that you are interested in being part of the partnership between Heriot-Watt University and Zhubanov University.
This is an exciting time as we strive to make a real difference through delivery of our strategy, Strategy 2025. We will become world-leading in all we do as we continue to fulfil our mission to create and exchange knowledge that benefits society, something we have been doing since our inception in 1821.
Nearly 30,000 students study with Heriot-Watt across business, engineering, design and the social, physical, biological and sports sciences. Our student body is roughly split evenly between the UK, our two campuses in Dubai and Malaysia, and our various academic partners around the globe such as Zhubanov University and online.
The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) is a truly global school that operates at scale. It is home to more than 2,500 students across our Edinburgh (60%), Dubai (18%) and Malaysia (18%) campuses, as well as through our Academic Partners (4%). The School’s portfolio of taught programmes spans the spectrum of mathematical and computer sciences and reflects its research strengths. It is home to what was the first programme in Actuarial Mathematics in the UK and the first programme in Computer Science in Scotland. It also offers intradisciplinary programmes, such as in data science, bringing together computational, statistical and mathematical aspects.
The School of Engineering & Physical Sciences (EPS) is a global school that operates at scale. It is home to more than 4,000 students across the Edinburgh (60%), Dubai (12%) and Malaysia (10%) campuses, as well as through our Academic Partners (13%) and online provision (5%). The School’s portfolio cuts across engineering and the physical sciences, and includes unique interdisciplinary degrees bringing together subjects such as photonics and cybertronics.
The School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) is home to more than 5,000 students across the Edinburgh and Orkney campuses in the UK (40%), Dubai (15%) and Malaysia (5%), as well as through HW-Online (35%) and our Academic Partners (5%). The breadth of the School’s portfolio of taught programmes is impressive, ranging from the built environment and infrastructure through to geological sciences, geographical and environmental sciences, biological and marine sciences, and sports and exercise sciences.
We are delighted to be seeking a significant number of new academic colleagues as part of this exciting partnership between Heriot-Watt and Zhubanov. As a member of the partnership team, you will be focused on excelling in all you do and inspire others around you, including colleagues and students at Zhubanov, to do the same. Apply to join us if the prospect of working with us as part of the Heriot-Watt-Zhubanov team excites you, and we look forward to the opportunity to discuss your, and our, ambitions together.
Best wishes.
