The Director of Research Operations is the leader of an integral professional services team of 11 individuals within Warwick Business School (WBS).
Working closely with the Executive Team, the Director will ensure effective operations are in place to support the School’s research output and aspirations. 5th in the REF, 93% of the School’s research output was considered ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the REF 2021 exercise.
This post will be part of the leadership team that shapes our submission to the next REF exercise and ensures that the Research Office team continues to provide the highest levels of support across all areas of publications, research impact, and continues to contribute towards the enhancement of our research culture and environment.
The postholder also leads the Doctoral Programme Office, driving our prestigious MRes and PhD programmes forward through close collaboration with academic leaders.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
About You
The successful candidate will have significant experience of working at a senior level within higher education or a related sector, with deep knowledge of working with faculty to support them in delivering strong, impactful research outputs.
They’ll be a strategic leader with experience of change management, development of new processes and policy, as well as progressing long-term initiatives.
Dealing with and navigating ambiguity is critical as well as interpreting and working within policy frameworks.
With a deep empathy and understanding of the challenges of working within higher-education, the right candidate will be able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, from external research funding bodies through to senior management to ensure that the School’s continues to thrive as one of the most successful research-orientated business schools in the UK.
