Jinan University (JNU), established in 1906, located in the historical and modern city of Guangzhou, is a leading Chinese university, and one of the ‘Double First-class’ universities in China. It has an international outlook and over 46,000 students. 19 subject areas at JNU are ranked in the top 1% on the ESI ranking scale. These 19 subject area are evaluated highly by the Ministry of Education.

The University of Birmingham (UoB) is a public research university located in Birmingham, United Kingdom. It is a founding member of both the ‘Russell Group’ of British research universities and the International Network of Research Universities, ‘Universitas 21’. It ranks among the top 100 world universities, and was awarded “Times UK University of the Year” in 2013/2014.

Jinan University- University of Birmingham Joint Institute (J-BJI) is a ‘Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools’ organization approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2016. Currently, J-BJI offers four undergraduate programs: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computing Science, Economic and Statistics, and Economics. The four programs offered by J-BJI focus on integrating knowledge with application, the cultivation of mathematical and economic professionals in cross- disciplinarily fields, and excellence in the fields of social science and natural science. The primary aim of these programs is to cultivate high-level talents who are equipped with solid mathematical skills, global vision, strong competitiveness and innovation, and English language proficiency.
