Carroll Amundson Professor of British History
The Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the Amundson Professorship of British History, to begin in Fall Term 2025. Applicants should have outstanding research records and be acknowledged leaders in British history broadly defined. This may include the British Isles, the British Empire, the Commonwealth, connections with or within the Indian Ocean, the Atlantic, Africa, Asia, continental Europe, or beyond. Appointment will be at the associate or full professor level.
Required qualifications:
We favor candidates with a record of creative scholarly collaboration as well as outstanding individual productivity. The appointee will join a department with significant strength in global, transnational, and comparative approaches and a commitment to innovative graduate training, in a research university with a wealth of resources in international and interdisciplinary area studies and a vibrant World History Center. In addition to scholarly accomplishments, the Department expects and highly values excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
