Job Title: 2x Fully Funded 3-Year PhD Studentships

Salary: UK tuition fees and an annual stipend of £21,000 for up to 36 months for UK applicants.

Purpose of the Post

Imperial College London invites applications for two fully funded PhD Studentships within the NIHR North West London Patient Safety Research Collaboration (NIHR PSRC). These studentships offer an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research to advance patient safety, utilising integrated care data to tackle significant healthcare challenges.

Research Areas

• Patient Safety Impact of Integrated Systems and Teams in Mental Healthcare
• Aim: To use mixed methods, including local integrated care data, to assess the impact of mental health care integration on patient safety.
• Potential Impact: Develop and implement safety indicators, inform service delivery and policy, and produce recommendations for community mental healthcare integration.

• Safety in Access and Delivery of Healthcare Amongst Mothers and Babies of Ethnically Diverse Backgrounds
• Aim: To characterise healthcare-associated harm during pregnancy and early childhood among ethnically diverse populations, using linked health datasets.
• Potential Impact: Define indicators to identify healthcare inequalities, inform interventions to address disparities, and enhance maternal and child healthcare expertise.

Qualifications and Person Specifications

Essential:

• First-class degree in health policy, health services research, psychology, behavioural science, data science, or related disciplines
• Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
• Proven analytical skills and ability to write clear technical reports
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

• MSc in the above fields
• Knowledge of patient safety issues
