Communications Officer

University of Oxford - Exeter College

Location: Oxford
Salary: £25,138 to £33,966 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 8th May 2024
Closes: 17th May 2024

Exeter College (part of the University of Oxford) is a high-quality education provider, with a diverse and international audience. On a day-to-day basis, our communications engage with alumni and donors, prospective students, current students and staff, public relations and the press. If you are looking for a new challenge in a unique environment, where you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of extraordinary people in an organisation that is making a real difference, the role of Communications Officer could be for you.

This is a hands-on, creative and extremely varied role, focused on creating awareness and engagement across a range of media and audiences. The College is investing significant resource in expanding its Communications activities: as such, this role represents a fantastic opportunity to be involved in driving our Communications activities forward.

Working with the Head of Communications, you will create engaging and relevant content for a wide range of audiences, maintaining and developing the College’s social media presence across a number of platforms, updating the College website (using WordPress), monitoring website traffic, and using analytics tools to report on performance. You will also use your creative skills to produce inspiring print and digital assets, including photography, short films, news bulletins, email campaigns and College publications.

The role would suit someone who is creative, has excellent content creation skills (including copywriting, photography and social content), with the ability to engage a range of different audiences. Strong attention to detail is a must, as is a good understanding of social media and digital technologies. You will ideally have some experience working in a digital marketing or communications role, together with experience of using creative software such as Canva, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar software. Experience of social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, email marketing services such as Stripo or Mailchimp, and content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal would be an advantage. However, of greater importance are your interpersonal and team-working skills, and your ability to successfully manage a busy and constantly changing workload.

Salary will be within a range £25,138 - £33,966 per annum, depending on experience, skills and qualifications. Benefits include an annual leave entitlement of 30 days holiday (plus 8 public/bank holidays), contributory pension, free meal whilst on duty, and optional membership of subsidised dental and/ or healthcare schemes.

The College supports flexible and/or home working, and is also keen to invest in supporting its staff to obtain relevant qualifications to enable them to develop their career.

Further Particulars and details of how to apply are available by email from vacancies@exeter.ox.ac.uk, or by clicking the 'Apply' button above.

The closing date for applications is 12pm (midday) on Friday 17 May 2024, with interviews to be held as soon as possible thereafter.
