This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.

The School of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking to recruit a committed, adaptable individual to join our experienced team of academic staff as a Lecturer in Computer Science.

You must be sufficiently proficient in major programming languages and have a good practical understanding of software development principles and practice and be able to adapt to teaching from level 3 to level 7.

The school is seeking to broaden its current strengths in the area of computer science and software engineering. It is seeking candidates who can complement and add to the expertise of the existing members of the school. We will consider applications from individuals with research interests and the ability to contribute to our teaching in areas related to computer science and software engineering, such as artificial intelligence, data science and analytics, creative computing, web and full stack development.

We particularly welcome candidates with a background in industry practices and hands-on experience in modern design methodologies, architectures, platforms, and software development processes. If you are passionate about shaping the future of technology and education, we would love to hear from you. We also welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics or with the equivalent experience gained in industry.

Most of the teaching duties for the post will be in the area of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, though this may vary.

Duties will include teaching face-to-face and online, setting assessments, marking and giving feedback, supervising final-year and post-graduate projects, and acting as a personal tutor to provide pastoral support to students. As part of the role, you will be expected to support students in competitions, work-based learning, and other opportunities for enterprise.

You will also be expected to contribute to School strategic subject-based, professional or pedagogic research and development and other scholarly activities to support your teaching.

Staff are also encouraged to develop their external research profile and the appointee to this post will be expected to contribute to one or more of the School’s multidisciplinary Research Groups.
